How We Build Our Protocols

Every protocol on Performance Protocol is grounded in peer-reviewed research, weighted by evidence quality, and regularly updated as new data emerges.

    Research Sourcing

We draw from established medical and scientific databases including PubMed, Cochrane Library, ClinicalTrials.gov, and peer-reviewed journals in endocrinology, sports medicine, neuroscience, and longevity research.

Priority is given to randomized controlled trials (RCTs), systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. Observational studies and case reports are included for context but are clearly labeled with their evidence tier. We also reference clinical practice guidelines from organizations like the Endocrine Society and the American College of Sports Medicine.

Each protocol page includes citation counts and links to primary sources where available, so readers can verify claims independently.

    How Recommendations Are Weighted

Not all evidence is equal. We use a tiered system to weight our recommendations based on the strength and quality of supporting research:

    Tier 1 — Very Strong

Multiple RCTs, meta-analyses, or systematic reviews with consistent findings. These form the core of our protocols.

    Tier 2 — Strong

At least one well-designed RCT or multiple large observational studies with concordant results.

    Tier 3 — Moderate

Observational studies, smaller trials, or mechanistic evidence from animal models with plausible human relevance.

    Tier 4 — Emerging

Preliminary data, case reports, or theoretical frameworks. Presented as areas of interest, not recommendations.

    Update Frequency

Science evolves. Our protocols are reviewed on a quarterly basis to incorporate new research findings, correct outdated recommendations, and reflect emerging best practices.

Each protocol page displays a "Last medically reviewed" date so readers know how current the information is. Major updates—such as changes to core recommendations—are noted in the page's revision history.

When landmark studies are published that materially change best practice (e.g., new clinical trial results on TRT cardiovascular safety), we prioritize expedited updates outside the regular review cycle.

    Limitations & Disclaimer

While we strive for accuracy and completeness, it is important to understand the inherent limitations of evidence-based content:

Research findings may not apply equally to all individuals. Genetics, medical history, and lifestyle factors influence outcomes.
Many interventions discussed (especially peptides and hormonal therapies) require medical supervision and may carry risks not fully captured in current literature.
This content is for informational and educational purposes only. It does not constitute medical advice.
We are not licensed healthcare providers. Always consult a qualified physician before starting any new protocol, supplement, or medication.
Some studies referenced may have limitations including small sample sizes, short durations, or industry funding that could influence results.

    Medical Disclaimer

Performance Protocol is for informational purposes only. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before beginning any hormone, peptide, or supplementation protocol. We do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

    Our Commitment

We are committed to transparency, accuracy, and intellectual honesty. If we get something wrong, we correct it. If the evidence is uncertain, we say so. No hype. No false promises.
